Sure, lifting weights and running on a treadmill can give you great results, but is that really as fun and enticing as being whisked across the floor with a partner?

What kind of a workout are you looking for?

Being in the mindset that you are looking to exercise is vital in order to get the most out of your session.  If you think of personal lessons, group classes and even practice parties as “gym visits,” this will ensure a great workout! In fact, you might find that dancing is more efficient than other more traditional and straightforward methods of exercise.

There are more aerobic dances such as Salsa, Swing and Cha Cha, and then there are dances that are perfect for toning, like Waltz, Bolero and Rumba.  For example, you can burn over 400 calories during a 60-minute Salsa dancing session!

Ballroom Bootcamp!

There are a couple ways to really get moving with the studio!  One route is to schedule several personal lessons in a row. Another way is to book a personal lesson followed by one or more group classes and then the practice party.  Tell your instructor that you’re looking to sweat! And of course, you are always welcome to come in early and dance by yourself! Having a partner is not necessary to reap the benefits of dancing as exercise.

Dancing works every part of your body, including your brain!

Dancing is a mental workout just as much as it is a physical workout.  For leaders, you have to think ahead about where you want to take your partner and how you want to take them there.  For followers, you have to be completely in tune with every signal your leader gives you so you don’t end up stepping on each other’s toes!  It has been proven that ballroom dancing can maintain, and even improve, your cognitive acuity at any age!

Events as a bootcamp

Attending a showcase is an opportunity to spend the entire day dancing!  So, make sure that you get the most out of your dances by practicing full out during lessons and classes leading up to the big day.  During the actual event, be ready to give each heat your all to make sure you get your sweat on!

Create beautiful artwork with your movements.

Dancing can be so meaningful to the performers and to anyone observing!  From a powerful and passionate Tango to a graceful Waltz that will be sure to sweep everyone off their feet, there are so many different meanings within the giant umbrella term of ballroom dancing.  Combine this with working every part of your body and feel what a truly satisfying and beautiful workout dancing is.

The question you need to ask yourself is…

Would you rather get your exercise through more “traditional” methods, or do you want to have fun while burning calories at the same time? Schedule your first lesson now!
