You’re at a party and you hear songs that appear all the time on the radio.  You want to take your partner out to the dance floor, but you find it difficult to know how to dance to the song since there is no instructor calling out the dance possibilities that fit best with what’s playing.

Let’s look at some popular songs you will probably hear at a party outside the studio.

Señorita – Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello

Chances are, you have heard this song at a couple of our practice parties in the studio as well!  Rumba fits perfectly with the mood and tempo of this song.

Bad Guy – Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish dazzled the music scene with her unique sound.  This particular song is great for a moody Hustle.

Sucker – Jonas Brothers

The Jonas Brothers are back in action, and we are a sucker (get it?) for this song!  It pairs very well with Triple Swing.

Dancing With a Stranger – Sam Smith and Normani

The tempo of this song lends itself perfectly to a West Coast Swing.  This is the perfect chance to take someone that may not be your normal dance partner out for a spin!

Trampoline – SHAED

Billboard called this song “a lush alt-pop head-nodder with a snapping beat and an inspired whistle break.”  Here’s another option for a Rumba.   Or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, try a Tango!

Hey Look Ma, I Made It – Panic! At the Disco

Maybe you made it through a really difficult week, or you just nailed the last dance with your partner.  Whatever the reason, this song is great to get your groove on.  Take your partner out for a Hustle and revel in the moment!

The more experienced you get with dancing, whether it be at private lessons, group classes or practice parties, the easier recognizing how to move to a tune will become.  Don’t give up, keep testing your knowledge and see if whatever dance you pick matches with the song!
